Anonymous said: Please please someone tell me how anonymous messages are suddenly hard evidence and a reason to justify the astounding level of harassment this girl is facing???
I don’t think I could possibly put more emphasis onto this: I KNOW, RIGHT?????? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Anonymous said: "Gaming Misogyny Gets Infinite Lives: Zoe Quinn, Virtual Rape, and Sexism" by Amanda Marcotte is another good article on the subject.
Marcotte is problematic, but she does make some good additional points and provides some more information.
Anonymous said: I keep seeing Zoe Quinn's name, but I've yet to see someone post the name of her boss, or the names of the journalists she allegedly slept with. Aren't they guilty too?
Yeah, you don’t see them mentioned a whole lot, and they’re not getting near the same harassment, though they’ve gotten some. Especially the ones defending her.
Anonymous said: Can you tell me whats going on with Zoe Quinn? All the info I can find is from MRAs and I wouldn't trust them to hold my latte let alone give me unbiased info.
This is a pretty good summary:
Anonymous said: I hate the whole "she slept her way to the top" when it comes to women in positions of power. ALOT of people truly believe this. There's usually at least one comment to that effect on any article involving a woman with alot of success. People like to pretend that they know what that person is doing with their sex life so that they don't have to feel intimidated by women who are already better then them. Thank you for shutting that shit down fast. She doesn't deserve the shit she's getting at all
I know. It’s always straight to that whenever a well-known woman’s sex life is discussed. People have sex with each other, and it’s usually with people the spend a lot of time with. Workplace romances are so common. Do you have any idea how many journalists are married to politicians? But they’re acting like this thing with Zoe is threatening their very way of life. Please.
"workplace romances are so common"
Are they not implicitly or explicitly forbidden in most workplaces?
Yeah but that doesn’t stop people, trust me.
That’s not a good thing, is it?
Especially journalists x politicians?
Not ideal, but why the major freakout over the fact that Zoe did it? And talk about naive. Game devs are friends with game journalists all the time, too, you think that doesn’t affect reviews? Why is Zoe being sacrificed on the holy altar of game journalism right now? Game journalism has never been especially professional, and it’s certainly not what I would call important. And why must we assume she did it to get good reviews and publicity? She has plenty already, and Nathan’s an attractive man. It just makes no sense.
Anonymous said: About work place romances being "forbidden". Sexual harassment in the workplace is forbidden, but men still do it all the fucking time. Since when has something being "forbidden" stopped anyone from doing it? Fact of the matter is, if a woman is doing any "sleeping her way to the top" the man is just as much at fault, for engaging in the intercourse in the first place, AND if he's promoting her for it, HE'S even shittier then she is. Men are so weak, they have to assume women fuck to be powerful
